The last chance running saloon
Here goes....
Pelvis aligned - check
Posture approximately upright - check
Leg muscles working - check
Sympathetic shoes - check
Joint inflammation in check - check
Other medical issues under control - check
After 18 months of physio, exercises, medication and pilates, and six months of walking up hill and down dale, quickly, slowly and every speed in between, I've finally been allowed to start running again......ish. The deal is that I could start with 5 x 30 second intervals during each walking session and progress to 10 x 30s intervals if all went well. I was then supposed to stay at 10 x 30 for six weeks or so but I've secretly kind of increased to 15 x 30 this week and so far all has been well. Like most runners, patience has never been my strongest point, so it's hard to see seven and a half minutes of slow running as real progress, but time will tell.
So, this is basically my last chance. The stars are as aligned as they will ever be and if it's not going to happen I'll know within the next couple of months.

I love it when I see a '1' beside your name in bloglines because I KNOW these days its going to be good news :)
PS My theory is physios tell you what to do expecting you to increase it.
LOL. I started reading your physio's instructions thinking to myself 'how long is it going to be before she runs for longer...'. I didn't get a chance to finish the sentence ;-P
Seriously wonderful news to hear that you are running again. But you need a slap on the head if you don't think 7.5min is progress after the last 18 months you've had! You have come along way already Y, don't belittle that.
Love ya guts as our mutual PGer would say
xx
PS. Pls approve me :-)
Best of luck with the last chance, Cirque.
Cheers,
Ben
now THIS is the sort of news we've all wanted to hear!! And you amongst all runners should appreciate that 7 minutes is 7 minutes. Don't you go running before you're jogging :)
That's so good to hear, Cirque! You're such a brave girl & deserve all the good things to come your way now. (Big Hug!)
I hope you have a very happy 2009, Cirque & hope to see you again at the Gold Coast.
