Week seven of six ? – en marche
Things are moving a little more slowly towards my six week running renaissance than I’d hoped, but I remain extremely optimistic.
I’ve been very patient and worked hard since my last post and some very lovely, incredibly knowledgeable people tell me I’m making good progress! I’ve graduated from my initial ten minute ‘ministry of silly walks’ walk, to 50 minutes of walking almost normally but just consciously picking my feet up, which is a precursor to running again. If all goes well, I can start running 25 metre intervals in a couple of weeks.
The miracle workers at QSMC are achieving wondrous effects with all things pelvis-related and my lower body is steadily moving closer to its rightful position. Unfortunately each visit seems to uncover more anomalies in the way my body was put together, and the evidence increasingly suggests that I was actually made from seconds from the factory floor, so it’s not an easy project.
Sven, Dolph and the Dolphettes have been wonderful in their willingness to communicate with each other and I’m reasonably confident we’re all working in the same direction now, with Dolph working on aligning my pelvis, Sven guiding my strength training, the Dolphettes teaching me pilates for the core stuff and me just trying to take in everything they say, learn to stand and walk properly and not get too discouraged about the enormity of what it would take to approximate being ‘normal’.
On the upside, I’ve learned a lot about how and why my HMS has stuffed up my posture for the last 35 years, so now when I’m standing or walking I need to consciously remember to move my sternum forward and downwards, rotate my pelvis backwards and upwards and unlock my knees (no jokes about the potential effect on my social life, please). On the downside, my arthritis appears to have moved up a couple of notches lately, so when I do return to running I may have one or two other factors to take into account.
Exciting times!

Rejects from the factory floor? Sheer luxury! You're luck they weren't using the bits from the dump outside (at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon!) :-)
Seriously, it made such a difference when I finally got straightened out about 5 or 6 years ago. I didn't know that you could go for such long periods without back pain! Enjoy learning how to walk :-)

I just typed a long message - and then lost it. Now I have to get ready to work.............
Anyhoo that's great news. Love ya. Not long now for lots of exciting things
xx
so you're saying you were a Friday arvo jobbie when they put you together? Hope your flash new car serves better than that :)
Great news to hear that things are aligning themselves properly and getting you closer and closer to the Warwick assault again. All things worth making an effort for, require making an effort. Great commitment Y
Sounds like the hard work is paying off! Hope the house isn't too quiet without J. We'll have to send up a PG member or two to keep you company in the next few weeks.
Take care. L xx
Your fans are very obedient - nothing about unlocking the knees thus far.
The 25m intervals will be huge and exciting. Hope it goes well :)
Who knows - could turn out you're two inches taller than you thought :-)
Keep up the good work mate.
(((((cirque)))))
good work! I'm proud of ya! Funny, my yoga instructor is always trying to get me to lock my knees.
Great to see the QMSC is helping you move along the path towards a better life (running!!!).
Hopefully the arthritis is just playing up because your bones are not used to being in alignment so much nowadays. Fingers crossed it settles down shortly.
You might walk a bit funny but you sure look fantastic, I almost didn't recognise the new slim line model Cirque when you arrived at Caboolture.
Keep up the good work, it is definitely paying off!
Made from factory seconds - what is this??
I don't care what you look like or run like. It's not the hardware that matters but the software and especially the motherboard inside that really counts.
In this case I think IBM came up with a crystal chip that they were too nervous about releasing to the general public. That chip remains in mint condition from what I can see.
At last I can comment! Now what was your post about? Oh yeah, I hope you remember to not trip up when thinking about all that stuff when walking.
Good on you Cirque! You are your own "miracle worker". Those feet were made for walkin'....!
My trips to QSMC have been very rewarding and most worthwhile. I think you are the right place, say hello to Nathan for me.
Good Luck with the return to running.
