Two steps forward, one step back

A bit of a blip in the schedule today.

Friday
Rest day - Yoga, stretching, heat and ice

Saturday
Cycling - 50 minutes, about 12k

Sunday
1k run/2k walk

Saturday's ride was really good. My speed is obviously still very slow but I managed to negotiate some tricky little parts of the bike path that I was too scared to ride on before.

Today's run wasn't so good though. I attempted another 3k this morning but my knees didn't want to play. While I was walking to warm up I felt very stiff and I could feel pain in one knee. I thought it might go away when I started running, but instead the other one started hurting as well. After about a kilometre of running the pain was radiating up and down both my legs and I could feel my hips starting to get sore and stiff as well so I gave it up and walked the rest of the way.

Needless to say I was pretty disheartened and I've been feeling really crappy and totally exhausted all day. Everything hurts and all I want to do is crawl into bed and sleep for a week.

I'm trying hard to remind myself:
"Two steps forward and one step back is still one step ahead!"

All part of the cirquelle of life my dear.

One bad run does not a disaster make... you did some beauties just recently and they will come again with interest.

Don't beat yaself up bud ;-)

Oh, its not fair :-( Lets hope its just a really really minor blip. At least you are still managing the yoga and cycling, that's gotta be doing lots of good.

Take care.

right you are Y - this 2 steps forward and 1 back is pretty much how the whole running/training build-up works anyway. A bit of down time can be good for the body and the mind. A little more recovery may be all that's required

Hang in there Cirque - at least you're trying! I'm my biggest blip on my schedule lately - I wimp out of going to the gym, I'm talking myself into extra uncalled for rest days, and I'm eating like there's no tomorrow.

Yoga is very good, I swear by it and warm up before runs using stretches from it. Keep at it!
