My first group ride

;) sort of.

Friday
55 minute walk/run
Some running, but mainly walking.

When I left the house just before 5 a.m I was feeling a bit better than on Thursday, but after walking to warm up and then running only about 500 metres the pain started to increase a lot so I had to go back to walk/running for the next 45 minutes or so. I walked a lot more that I ran and I felt really disappointed and upset after feeling so good the other day. I must admit those horribly negative thoughts of "why the hell am I bothering?" started to creep in after a while but I did my best to bop them on the head whenever they surfaced.

Saturday
45 minute bike ride

The Cirquelets both wanted to check their bikes were OK before tomorrow's triathlon so when we got home from C2's volleyball game we went for a ride together. I usually don't ride on the road because I know I'm a menace to society, but they encouraged me to accompany them on the first part of the ride along some quiet local streets. It was a lot of fun having someone to talk to and I was in good hands in our little convoy with the C's looking out for traffic for me. We rode together for a couple of kilometres and then I veered off onto the bike track and left them to do whatever it was they needed to do. I don't think I'll be braving the road on my own for a while yet though!

Nice one C! If you come up with an effective way of bopping those negative thoughts away - please don't forget to share! Perhaps the Cirqueletes were in front because they knew it was safer there?

Wow - go team Cirque - just like The Tour where the team mates look out for the leader.

I think you should wear a yellow jersey next time ;-)

I find I can deal better with the negative thoughts if I just acknowledge them and then chose to ignore then... " yep I feel crap, but it won't last- moving on". If all else fails a bowl of ice cream helps :-)

Your efforts are really inspiring... just remeber that when the negatives pop in your head!

I love it when the teenagers are happy to be seen with mum. You must be doing something very right :-)

yeah - how scary is it riding on the road!!? my last time was in central Java where I had been given a bike with no breaks and a minivan knocked me into a ditch on the side of the road. No more road for me! E

Yay, a group ride! I can just see the three of you out there together. Glad you enjoyed it, and that you seem to now be running well again after Friday's slight hiccup
