Z is a lovely letter
I think I might actually be approaching this running thing sensibly at last!
Saturday
Clinical pilates at Z's physio centre.
Pilates seems really strange for those of us who were weaned onto aerobics 'Jane Fonda' style.
It seems so minimalist, but after a short time I could really see how it was working the underlying muscles that nothing else gets to. I've always assumed that as long as I build up to something gradually (ie running) that the muscles I need to do it will just build up as I go along. But now it's starting to hit home that with my underlying 'weakness', adding stress by asking my body to do things it's not ready for will only add to the problem.
Analogy : - if the foundations of the house aren't strong enough, it doesn't matter how gradually you add each storey, eventually the house will collapse.
Lesson: my goal of the MDC may need to be revised. If so, I will not sulk or throw tantrums. Even if I really, really want to.
I am SO wise!
Tuesday
Update visit to Z today.
She was very excited by my thighs.
Apparently the speed with which my muscles respond to the ultrasound is very encouraging.
I'm allowed to do some walking between now and Saturday and if my thighs are in the same excellent condition after pilates on Saturday I can try the one min run/walk again.
Woo hoo!
These thighs are made for walkin'.....
and that's just what they'll do.....
And one of these days these thighs are gonna
... run all over ......... you............
bop a dop.... bop a doo....

Love reading your blog..you have such a way with words! The "house" metaphor is a great one.
Congratulations on having such fantastic thighs! I want to go to clinical pilates too!!!!
Ha, you always make me giggle Cirque. You've seen my approach when I have to revise a goal ;-) Yours is, I think, a little more sensible. The 'house' metaphor is so true; running puts such a stress on your body that any weaknesses will soon become apparent. Keep up the great work - I want to go to clinical pilates too !!!
