A nostalgic run and an impromptu cheer squad
I've had a huge weekend and loved every minute of it. It's the most wonderful feeling to have my weekends back again with no assignment deadlines looming.
On Friday we had a family get together at Twin Waters to celebrate my parents 50th wedding anniversary. We had a wonderful time and it was lovely to spend uninterrupted time with my parents and my sister's family for a change. We had lots of champagne during the afternoon (again! - time to tone the celebrations down a bit, I think), and a fairly late night after our special dinner, but I got up at five thirty the next morning because I was determined to get a run to the beach in before we all met again for breakfast. This was the nostalgic part, because the track to the beach came out at a beautiful spot where I used to go sailing a few years ago. It also overlooked the beaches where most of our more memorable surf carnivals were held and one of my favourite running spots. Lots of good memories but some sadness as well.
We drove home in the afternoon and I pottered around until it was time to go out again to dinner and to the QO performance of the Messiah, which C1 bought me tickets to as a graduation present. It was such a lovely thought, because he knows how much I love it and because I've been housebound for so long. Another late night (about 1 a.m.) and then I was up again at five to go and cheer our amazing CR Hannah at her very first triathlon at Bribie. She did really well (with a big grin every time I saw her flash past) and I was so proud of her. When she finished she looked fantastic - as though she was ready to go again. In fact all she could talk about five minutes after the race were her plans for bigger and better things next year. You are such an inspiration Hannah!
C1 is also training for his first triathlon on 18 December, so when we got home he took off again to go for a swim, a ride and a run up Mt Coolum. I was a little less adventurous and settled for a 30 minute bike ride, although I probably should have swum instead. I tried to tell myself that the reason I chose the ride was because the weather was too glorious to go to the indoor pool at the gym, but in reality it was because it was the only exercise I could do sitting down.
If this is what weekends look like, bring 'em on!

*hugs* thank you so much for cheering me! It was really lovely :) Just you wait - I can see Tri Team CR happening one day in the not so distant future! Hope your son goes well at Raby - you have to post and tell us how he went!
What a wonderful weekend you've had. I'll have to send you up a set of pom-poms for any more impromptu appearances of the cheersquad :-)
Ah, that's exactly how weekends are meant to be :-)
Great news, Cirque & many more weekends like this one! No asignments - what a relief that must be...it's all go from here on! Enjoy each one & the champagne if you can get it!
Sounds like a fantastic weekend Cirque. Isn't sailing fantastic?
Good to see you got in a run too :-)
Great weekend!!!
Noting better than seeing someone acheive their goals :-)
Well, and I thought that WE had a good weekend. What a fantastic time Y. and I'm so glad to hear you had the chance to keep the Qld'ers end up in the cheering department.
Can't wait to hear about C1's tri efforts
What a great weekend! Must have more of them! Hannah did really well - I was reading her entry.
Sounds a wonderful weekend. May there be many more. Just imagine the excitement when you watch C1 do his first triathlon :-).
