What a glorious morning for a run!
I knew that I wouldn't be able to get to the gym after work (because of my farewell lunch at the job I'm not really leaving) so I got up at 5.30 and ventured out instead. It was such a beautiful morning, and it was lovely to watch the sun rise. I really miss this aspect of running, so I’m going to try and rearrange things so that I can do it a bit more often.
Unfortunately, the recent chiro advice about not running first thing in the morning may be right, as I was very stiff and sore, so I took it very easy. Seven minutes walking to the lake, fifteen minutes of R1/W1 and seven minutes walking back. I can’t really call this one a run but it was a trial of sorts and didn’t seem to cause any major problems.
Today
Pilates this morning.
I am such a wuss! I couldn’t manage two of the exercises, one because of dizzy spells (probably because of the new medication) and one because I simple seemed to have no control over my legs. It was the weirdest feeling, almost as though the link between my brain and my muscles had just switched itself off.
I had another appointment with Z afterwards and she is both pleased and bemused by my progress. The good news is that the muscle tear (which I thought was the quad but was actually the adductor with referred pain) is healing really well. The bad news is that the pain is now actually coming from my quad after all. The really good news is that Z wasn’t cross with me for running more than she told me to. We tried the squatting and the balancing and it was absolutely hopeless, so I had ten minutes of electrical buzzes through my knees, some ultrasound and massage and then some lovely traction which hurt at the time but made a huge difference to my back pain afterwards.
Will see how tomorrow's gym session goes after all that.
