In the midst of life...
Yesterday my youngest son celebrated his 17th birthday and our much loved great aunt died, a few days after her 95th.
My aunt lived in Wales, so we won't be able to attend her funeral.
I so wish I could be there to say goodbye...she was a truly special lady.
Happy Birthday C2! I wish your celebration could have been happier. You're a fantastic kid.
(and not a bad little runner, either - 24.30 for a hilly 6k X-C yesterday was pretty good under the circumstances).
--------------------------------------------------------------------
In running news, I also reached a bit of a milestone yesterday. For the first time I veered off my beaten track and ran in a different direction with no planned route in mind. I didn't measure time or distance and I ran/walked on hills, grass, gravel, bitumen and anything else that was brave enough to venture underfoot.
It was fun.

Wow. So much news. Firstly I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with you & the boys :-)
Secondly, Happy Birthday C2. Yes, he's a good kid and not a bad runner ;-)
Thirdly, wow. That's huge. I'm proud of you. Go you girl!
Sorry to hear your news Cirque. Gee, 95 years old. Hope it runs in the family.
Give C2 a big birthday hug for me. Tell him I've been practicing the warcry for his next race :-)
Well done on your run. We really all need to take 'the road less travelled' more often and not think about times or anything, just take pleasure in being out there.
it's almost a world balancing act isn't it?...commiserations on your loss but happy birthday to C2...and well done on your "new" run...
nice to see you back again Cirque - and with so much news too! Pass on my best to the less-young whipper snapper - tell him I let him win the XC too ;)
Fantastic to hear about your "taking the path less travelled" in your runs :)
Sorry to hear about your great aunt - but at least she lived to a ripe old age.
And happy birthday to C2 - they grow up so quickly. Its hard to believe that our boys will be 24 (twins) and 22 this year!
And glad to hear that you had a fun run - very important!
Hi cirque, Im sorry for your loss. No news yet at my end...
Hey Cirque 95 is a pretty good innings - that is what I call a "great aunt".
Happy birthday to C2 and congrats on your freespirit running :-)
A Good Innings: vale Great Aunt Cirque.
Happy Birthday C2 ~ an excellent time for the Cross Country, obviously a talented runner.
I'm delighted to hear that you enjoyed your exploratory run yesterday. Some of the best runs are made of this.
Some what-am-I-going-to-do-today runs are the best (then again, sometimes they suck :-) :-) ). Glad you enjoyed yours! Congrats to C2. He picked a good day to have a birthday :-)
Gnome
*hugs* see you tomorrow!
