Walk to Cure Diabetes
I felt so sorry for the organisers of this event today, (and the people who would have benefitted from the fundraising). They put in an enormous effort to create a fantastic morning but unfortunately the heavy rain deterred many of the participants and most of the rides and activities had to be cancelled.
The course was changed from the original 5k route at the last minute so I'm not sure exactly how far it was but I think it ended up being a very damp and squelchy 4.5ks. I was going to try to jog/shuffle as much as I could, but in the end with the crowds, the puddles and the constant risk of umbrella spokes in the eye it was easier just to walk with the rest of the herd. Even with legs that don't bend from the hips down, I still managed to start at the back and finish pretty close to the front though, so there must be some awfully slow walkers out there!

Good on ya for getting out there this morning Yvette!
Was Ironbee there?
I heard on the radio about the organisers' disappointment with the lack of numbers. Such a shame.
I hate to say it but when it comes to doing anything in the rain Brisso's are soft :-(
That is such a shame... what a good cause! Good on you for getting out there :) A bit of rain never hurt anyone.
Well at least you got out there Y. When you are used to perfect weather most of the time I guess it is difficult to accept the bad stuff.
Good on you for getting out there and supporting such a worthwhile event in such yukky conditions.
I don't mind running in the rain but I'm not very keen on walking in it. Strange I know !
