Shh! I have a secret....
But first...
Today's effort was 2k on the rower (10:34 minutes) and fifteen minutes on the bike. Doesn't sound like much of a session really (under half an hour) but I worked really hard - honest! It's amazng just how hard you can work while sitting down. Plus there was some treadmill stuff which I will confess to in a minute.
Anyway the reason I was a bit rushed was that I was on a deadline for C2's basketball game and as I am the official 'washer of the uniforms', I was under a fair bit of pressure to be on time so the team didn't have to play in the nude. It was such an exciting game! They won 29-27 (against BBC), and it was nail biting stuff all the way through. This was their first win this season which was partly why it was so exciting.
Anyway - back to my secret confession....
I've had a bit of trouble with my knee lately while I've been rowing, so I thought it might be a good idea to warm up with a couple of minutes walking on the treadmill first. And then after a couple of minutes walking I thought..."hmm, while I'm here, maybe I should just have the teensiest little attempt at running (purely for research purposes), so that I have accurate information to tell the sports doctor when I go back". I mean, that's really being very sensible isn't it? So I did a tiny little run for just a minute, and - guess what? It didn't hurt.
OK - so it was only for a minute, but this is the first time since the end of May that it hasn't hurt as soon as my foot hits the ground, even when I've been walking, so I'm pretty excited. Anyway I have unequivocally promised myself and the C's that I won't abuse this privilege, so I'm going to try really, really hard not to even attempt any running for another couple of weeks to allow myself to heal as much as possible. So, guys, feel free to kick some serious butt if you hear me saying I've done anything silly. Anyway, just the thought that running without pain is possible again has really made my day!!!
And finally, good luck to everyone tomorrow - my thoughts will be with you all.

Good for you Cirque! I'm glad the running expereince was positive this time (...and that you made it to the basketball game in time).
Wooo! Painfree! That's what we like to hear :)
Anything painfree is worth celebrating, and no - I don't think you've done the wrong thing at all. A little bit on occasion like this will get you back there
That is great news Cirque. I'm really happy for you - but just don't try that everyday ;-)
J
PS I'm glad you made it to the basketball on time too - nude blokes playing basketball might not be the best spectator sport around....
It's ok, I won't tell anyone! ;-)
Congrats :)
