Cycling

5 minutes running, 25 minutes cycling (9k).

I didn't use the rowing machine today because my shoulders were really sore. Actually, the rest of me was too, because my arthritis is pretty bad at the moment, especially in my hips, legs and back (the usual suspects). Unfortunately, the down side of the increased exercise using my arms and shoulders is that it seems to have created a couple of new trigger points there as well.

Normally I can just work through it, but today it was pretty bad so I put the bike on a programmed interval course because I didn't trust myself to keep up the intensity. Which led me to think.....maybe one day I could do a proper spin class. At the moment I use the recumbent bike because it reduces the hip and back pain, but if I could graduate to a grown-up bike, and then practice with some of the other pre-programmed courses, maybe one day I could do a class with the big kids.

Something else to aim for!!!

I've yet to brave an actual spin class! You'll have to let us know what they're like!

Always good to have some new goals. Mind you, they do allow recumbent bikes in Ironman anyway

Cirque, I may have missed it but could you try deep water running. It may be friendlier to your arthritis and I believe really helps the fitness and may give those arms a rest. Arn't our sons lovely when they talk about us -'tuck shop arms' indeed!
