It's a lovely day today!
Things are looking up again!
(might a ten minute run have anything to do with that?)
I must be feeling better because my blog is getting longer again :)
Friday
Rower, treadmill (5 min run) and bike.
Saturday
Stretching
A few years ago I bought a DVD that had a couple of yoga and stretching programs on it and I'd never really tried the stretching sessions properly so I decided to give them a go. Wow, are those guys flexible!!!! Actually, I have a sneaking suspicion that most of them are double jointed, because there was no way in the world I could get into some of the positions they demonstrated. Plus they must have really good balance, because at one stage they were doing a stretch that involved balancing on the heel of one foot and the toes of the other and I couldn't even stay upright, let alone try and stretch anything. Anyway I did as much as I could and I'm really sore in a few places today so it must have had an effect.
C2 had the GPS crossy championships in the afternoon and was really pleased with his run. We don't know the times yet, but as he was sick, had a dodgy knee and hadn't really done any running training during the rugby season, he was happy to finish anywhere before the end part of the pack. Falling in a pothole at the half way mark didn't help much either. He looked really strong going up the hill towards the finish (although he says he didn't feel like it) so I think if he decided to concentrate on running he could achieve some really good times, especially since he came 19th out of 260 to qualify, with no training. At the moment though, he's having too much fun with rugby, basketball and all the rest so I don't know if he'll decide to pursue it. Photo is below.....our boy is the middle one of the three boys in dark blue singlets.
Today
Rower, treadmill (10 mins running) and bike.
Yep.....10 whole minutes! I'm not getting too excited yet because the shin pain hasn't completely gone but it didn't seem to be any worse after running than it was before so that has to be a good sign....doesn't it?
My other news that I was too sore and sorry to blog about last week is that I will be starting a new job next week. It's the same job I'm doing now (Senior Rehab Consultant) but it's permanent full-time, instead of the projects and temporary contracts I've been doing until now. So the good news is that I finally have the reliable income I want, and the autonomy to run things the way I want them, but it involves a 45 minute drive each way and, more importantly, leaving all the friends I work with. I know a 45 minute commute isn't much by most standards but the timing is awful as I'm doing the two final subjects of my Masters this semester and they are both huge, so losing an extra hour a day will add a lot of pressure that I could do without.
So Miners, it looks like the Whitsundays are definitely out of the question for this little CR in the immediate future.

Yay for Cirqlets! And ten minutes! :) great stuff!
"Actually, I have a sneaking suspicion that most of them are double jointed, because there was no way in the world I could get into some of the positions they demonstrated" ... you really should keep the fitness CDs and the sex CDs on different shelves!
Glad to see you're getting along. Keep up the good work!
Damn BT - you know me too well.
I did wonder why there was so much emphasis on the glute stretches! Oh well...multi-tasking has to be a good thing!
BT - does this comment mean you have a blog?
Damn - I was going to find a way to come along
way to go Cirque, that's all positive stuff...
Hi Cirque, Good to hear you coming back into it. Glad also to hear about the job in Ipswich. That should be such a relief being able to be permanent and ahve a realiable income.
looks likes those boys of yours have been doing all the running for you anyhow :)
