Test run
My lovely shoes and I ventured out for a very short test run today. Only 3k - about half walking and half running.
My shin didn't hurt while I was running, but there was still a part of it (smaller than before, I think) that was inflamed and sore to touch when I got home, so the jury is still out. I started icing it as soon as I got home, but C2 had an urgent call into work so I had to leave it to drive him there, and then I forgot to start again when I got home.
I have a consultation scheduled with Steve for Wednesday, so I'll try another short run on Tuesday and see how it goes. I'm sure today's run was a positive sign though, because I'm sure anything serious would feel much worse than it did.
I also have to give my lovely new shoes credit. Apart from a lot of walking up and down the Gold Coast on the weekend, they managed to support me while I was on my feet for about 6 hours of cheering. They seemed to enjoy it.
And on that note - HI! - to all the old friends I caught up with and the new ones I met at GCM this year. Jen, Miners, GG - it was so fantastic to see you, but it was sad that our Owly couldn't be there with us.
I also met so many other CRs for the first time: Rags, Nando, Lostboy (And Mrs L), Runrtom, Allrounder, Mouse, NiteRunner, BennyR - I'm sure there are many more that I've forgotten to list, but it was so much fun to meet you all.
Yesterday I also had the opportunity to meet Vlastik and celebrate his successful journey so far. Tesso - thank you SO much for organising that, and Davo - for always being there when anyone needs help. You really are a legend!

That's good news on the 3k Cirque. It will be interesting to hear what Steve says Wednesday.
Thank YOU so much for being there yesterday. It was a lovely morning wasn't it. And how's that Vlasik, he'd have to be the fittest 66 year old in the world. And one of the friendliest.
Let's hope you're given the all clear when you see Steve on Wednesday. Glad you got a trip in your new shoes though! Can't wait to try mine.
still can't believe i didn't notice the shoes when you were out cheering on the day - might have been a little distracted (read: frazzled) with the kids episode.
As always a fantastic time catching up with you. Soooo glad to hear that the shoes are taking you out for runs again too :)
Good news on the 3k Cirque - great stuff mate - you just keep on keepin on ;-)
Six hours of cheering - what a fantastic effort! No wonder you are pleased with the shoes.
