Another setback : - (

Today I was really looking forward to repeating the intervals I did on Saturday.
I know eight minutes of running doesn't sound like much, but after the injuries I've had recently it's a real improvement. I was also really keyed up to putting the treadmill back onto some sort of incline (although my chiropractor has banned me from doing that) so that the transition won't be so hard when I get back to running on the road again.

Unfortunately I made some minor movement in the wrong direction this morning and my back has gone into serious spasm again.

Now I can hardly walk, let alone run.
I am just SO disappointed I don't know whether to cry, scream or do both!!

The worst thing is that all the old doubts are beginning to creep in again.
Maybe all the medical people who told me I shouldn't be running are right?

Well Cirque, I've just read all of your blog!
How did other CRs know about it to be able to write comments & I didn't?? Doesn't matter, 'cos I've got it now!

What a chapter of aches & pains you've had in attempting to keep up your running! If you can just get that body right, there'll be no stopping you with that sort of will power & endurance; you'll make a great marathon runner one day, believe Chickybabe!

I feel so sorry for you with such back pain as you've described here. I've had a bit over the years, but nothing like you're experiencing; still, you do seem to be in good hands; not as if you're doing nothing about it.

I have an excellent book called "Stronger Abs & Back" by Dave & Greg Brittenham; might get something from it if you see it around.

By all means have a good cry & scream! A whole week of crying worked wonders for me!

Keep blogging...I would like to follow your progress; notice I said 'progress'? LL

I'm sure you will find some way to comeback. When I started getting fit again a few years back, I only walked for six months before even trying to run.

You will also have a lot of people watching and cheering you on.

All the best.

Hey Cirque...you finally came out. What has Plu got that I haven't? LOL I like to think all my nagging laid the ground work.

I recommend allowing anonymous comments. They are almost always coolrunners and the occasional weirdo comment just adds a bit of a laugh. ;-)

Sorry to read about your setback Cirque. My Physio recommends this book
"The Little Back Book" from ABC Shops.

Hope it helps.

Hi Cirque, I am so sorry to read about your temp. set-back. Have a good cry, get it all out and continue to be patient - with your strength I have no doubt you will get through this. Just remember to give youreslf adequate recovery time between efforts when you come back.

Cirque, it takes years to be a runner. This is one of the reasons. You'll get there, just stay with it!
